Atlas Runa Late June 2026 Product Update

Previous update: Atlas Runa June 2026 Product Update

Free Writing

Free writing got a full rework around one idea: feedback works best when it's a conversation, not a red pen.

  • Corrections now arrive in a tutor sidebar you can talk through, instead of a one-shot correction drawer
  • Revise your draft in versions and see how each pass compares to the last
  • Feedback and chat now share one scrolling history, so you're not hunting across separate panels
  • Fixed a bug where your first submission returned follow-up prompts instead of actual corrections

Reading

  • Fixed reading history so tapping an article row takes you back into it reliably
  • Streamlined the reading feed for faster loads on large libraries

Japanese Reader

Furigana rendering was rebuilt from the ground up.

  • Furigana now uses native browser ruby markup, so it lines up and scales better
  • Fixed furigana overlapping surrounding text, and gave it more breathing room inside the line
  • Improved word lookup so it correctly handles words that span variable-length spans of kanji and kana
  • Added fallback lookups for kana-only words and more general dictionary aliases
  • Japanese text processing now runs as its own dedicated service for more consistent performance

Chinese Reader

  • Fixed pinyin display and highlight alignment issues in the reader
  • Fixed dictionary part-of-speech filtering so lookups surface the right reading more often

Conjugation

  • You can now retry sentences you got wrong instead of moving straight past them, putting the testing effect to work

Vocabulary

  • Vocabulary cards can now be flipped back after you've seen the answer
  • Cleaned up vocabulary lists by filtering out stray non-words
  • Recommendations now also factor in words you've encountered while reading, not just ones you've explicitly reviewed, blending flashcard review with reading-driven vocabulary acquisition

iOS App (not yet on store)

iOS kept closing the gap with web across speaking, writing, and reading.

  • Speaking practice on iOS now matches the web's listen-and-repeat shadowing flow
  • Writing tools on iOS aligned with the rebuilt free writing tutor
  • Chinese pinyin hints on iOS now match the web reader
  • Listening vocabulary updates now show up on iOS
  • Reading quizzes on iOS are capped to a more reasonable length per session
